Brett Michaels Is Not Apologizing
Bret Michaels is not going to apologize for his new song "Nothin' to Lose," which features Miley Cyrus.
In the country-rock ballad that was released online on Thursday, Cyrus, 17, harmonizes and Michaels, 46, croons about a bad romance: "We both know better than this/Still we can't resist/slowly get undressed."
Us Magazine got an interview with Michaels who said that he received 75 text messages about the scandal that blazed the web on Thursday. "I was like, 'What the fuck is going on?' Everyone's going nuts."
The Poison frontman and Rock of Love star recorded the song solo and actually wrote the song a couple of years ago, without Cyrus.
The Hannah Montana star contacted Michaels to remake his classic "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" for her next album with Michaels as a producer. When Cyrus recorded the song in a New York studio with her mother standing by, Michaels played "Nothin' to Lose" during a break.
Cyrus offered to do some harmonies on the song, which Michaels agreed to because he thought it would be beneficial to the song.
Michaels admits that he never looked at the lyrical content of the song before agreeing to working with Cyrus.
"The part where it says she slowly gets undressed, Miley says, 'Yeah she does.' It has no reference to her and I. It's not even a duet," said Michaels to defend himself.
The track will appear on his new album Custom Built, which will come out in late May.
