Brigitte Nielsen Opens Up About Alcohol Problems

Brigitte Nielsen, former actress and one time wife of Sylvester Stallone, has opened up about how alcohol nearly destroyed her life, WENN reports.

The 45-year-old checked into rehab last year, when hitting rock bottom made her realize it was time for a change. "Last year, I looked in the mirror and realized I'd reached rock bottom. I heard voices in my head, telling me to drink. . . . I even drank just to pick up the phone because I felt such self-loathing and embarrassment," she reveals.

And Nielsen hated the type of person that alcohol had seemingly morphed her into. "Booze turned me into a bad mum, an ugly, depressed woman and a complete loser," she says.

But with her new lease on life, she advises other struggling stars to also get themselves back in order. Says Nielsen: "I get so sad when I see people like Amy Winehouse destroying themselves. They should get help before it kills them - like I did."
