Britney Makes a Surprise Visit to Sick Kids
According to People, pop star Britney Spears made a surprise visit on Saturday to Miami Children's Hospital to visit with 40 children.
Spears also donated $100,000 to Big Apple Circus Clown Care, a community outreach program at the hospital. The program, active in 19 pediatric centers across the United States, brings the entertainment of the circus to children confined to a hospital bed.
Spears arrived with her father, Jamie, and posed for photos with the children.
According to RadarOnline.com, pediatric radiologist Ricardo Restrepo and Lee Schrager, Director of Media for Southern Wine and Spirits America, arranged the visit. They felt the circus theme of her new tour tied in with the hospital's theme of clowns.
Hospital spokesperson Cristene Martinez told People, "She took pictures with the kids and gave them autographed pictures. The kids were so excited to meet Britney, and having her here was a great distraction for them."
Spears, who arrived without her children, left after about a half hour. Spears had a show scheduled for Saturday evening at the American Airlines Arena.
