Britney Spears Most Searched Item

For the fifth time in the past six years, Britney Spears has topped the Yahoo list for most searched items.>BR>
Celebrities took four of the top five spots, with Shakira at No. 3, Jessica Simpson, No. 4, and Paris Hilton, No. 5. Hilton is to only one to dethrone Spears when she took the top spot in 2004. World Wrestling Entertainment took the No. 2 spot this year.

"We consistently see female celebrities in the top ten, but WWE at second shows there are a lot of underground fans out there, one of their guilty pleasures," said Heather Moylan of Yahoo Buzz, according to the Associated Press.

The top searched news stories this year were the death of Steve Irwin, followed by the death of Anna Nicole Smith's son. The Iraq war, Israel-Lebanon conflict, and the U.S. elections rounded out the top five.
