Britney Spears says Lady Gaga’s Jo Calderone is ‘interesting’

Lady Gaga appeared in drag on the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.

The singer was her male alter ego Jo Calderone, whom she portrays in the music video for “You and I.”

But Lady Gaga didn’t let up her act as Calderone after she opened the show, she remained her fictional ex boyfriend for the remainder of the show.

Lady Gaga had the opportunity to honor Britney Spears with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award, where the “I Wanna Go” singer had quite a confrontation with Gaga.

The two popstars engaged in a fake-out kiss, although Calderone clearly wanted more. Spears quipped of the girl-on-girl kiss, “I’ve done that already.”

While many stars were scratching their heads over Lady Gaga, since Spears got up close and personal, she had a few words about Calderone.

"It was interesting, her character," Spears told MTV News . “She’s in full character. Yes, definitely.”
