Britney Spears is giving residents of Mexico City an early Christmas present — a free concert starring none other than herself.
The Los Angeles Times reports the pop star is scheduled to perform a free outdoor concert at the Monument to the Revolution on Sunday, Dec. 4, to kick off the holiday festivities in the capital city.
The singer is in Mexico as part of her world “Femme Fatale” tour and initially was to depart the country after her ticketed concert at the Foro Sol stadium on Saturday night. On Wednesday, Spears revealed on Twitter that she was extending her stay to offer an additional show at no cost.
She tweeted, “Can’t keep the secret any longer…I’m staying an extra day in Mexico to do a free show this Sunday!!”
On her tour website, Spears said the free show is meant to give back some of the love she has received from her fans all over the world.
The concert, which commences at 7 p.m., is expected to draw an estimated 50,000 people to the landmark structure.
It is unknown how the concert will be paid for, but a government official in Mexico City insisted it was free and noted that Spears will not reap any financial benefits from doing the performance.
In addition to her tour, Spears is having a busy weekend celebrating a milestone birthday. On Friday, the pop icon turned 30 years old.
