Brittany Murphy was Drug-Free

In an exclusive interview with People magazine, Brittany Murphy’s mother and widower claim the actress didn’t do drugs and barely drank alcohol.

"You could never in a billion years imagine this happening," Sharon Murphy said.

Widower Simon Monjack said ideas the actress had an eating disorder or was mentally disturbed are “ludicrous.”

Rumors began swirling when the 32-year-old actress was found dead by her mother last month. Pictures of Brittany Murphy’s thin frame sparked speculation of drug use and/or eating disorders.

Both Sharon Murphy and Monjack told People she died of a congenital heart murmur, a condition the star was diagnosed with in her teens but treated accordingly.

"We had it checked out every which way you could imagine," Monjack explained.

The two have been spending time together in Murphy’s home since her death.

Sharon Murphy said her daughter was only “high on life,” and any other suggestions are false.
