Brittany Murphy's Mother Calls Reports of Toxic Mold "Absurd"

Sharon Murphy, mother of late actress Brittany Murphy, still lives in the house that Brittany shared with her late husband Simon Monjack.

Suddenly, rumors are circulating that investigators are speculating the premature deaths of both Brittany and Monjack could have been due to a case of black mold in their house, yet Sharon says these reports of toxic mold are absurd.

“I have never been personally asked by the coroner or anyone from the Health Department to come and inspect my home for mold,” Sharon told People. “In the last eight months, I have been through the most unimaginable events, which no one could ever fathom. I have and will continue to be very cooperative and fully comply with any such request.”

Although Sharon said she would give permission for the Hollywood home to be inspected, the LA County Health Department told People they are not investigating the Murphys’ residence.

Michael Schiff, an attorney for Sharon, said of the subject, “to the best of my knowledge, there has been no evidence of mold at the Murphy residence.”
