Brittney Spears Covers Alanis Morissette in Concert

Spears delivers a decent cover performance.

Brittney Spears's "Circus" tour is in full swing this summer. At a show in Greensboro, N.C. on Saturday, she covered Alanis Morisette's breakthrough hit, "You Oughta Know."

Despite Spears's history of dreadful live performance and lip-synching, she appears to have really given her all, for what it's worth, to this particular performance. However, it is somewhat difficult to gauge the quality of the performance, which can only be seen on the Internet on a relatively poor-quality video.

The performance of "You Oughta Know" reflects a shift in Spears's lyrical subjects. Since suffering a fame-related breakdown and inducing a comeback, the star's music has become much more personal in its themes, sometimes reflecting on the press's brutal campaign against the troubled singer.
