Brody Jenner, Avril Lavigne exchange adoring tweets after split

So, did they actually break up?

People reported Avril Lavigne and Brody Jenner were exchanging love tweets Tuesday night since announcing their split.

"It really upsets me to read all the FALSE!! stories," Jenner tweeted, shortly after reports that he and the “Complicated” singer ended their two year long relationship.

"Avril has always been there for me and is the closest person to my heart. I love her."

And Lavigne soon followed suit, tweeting "luv u 2!!! @BrodyJenner.”

However, a source told E! Online that the couple are in fact no longer together and that it was a “mutual decision” to end their relationship.

In terms of the mysterious tweets, the source said that Lavigne’s messages of love shouldn’t be taken too literally, as she is "the kind of girl who stays in touch with her exes,” including former husband Deryck Whibley.

And while Jenner doesn’t necessarily have a job, aside from reality star, Lavigne is going to be quite the busy bee over the next few months.

Not only will she be moving out of her Bel Air mansion, she’ll also be kicking off an overseas tour.

Let’s hope there isn’t too much heartbreak for the couple to get over.
