Brody to play role made famous by Schwarzenegger
Adrien Brody, an actor who won the best actor Oscar for his role in Polanski's "The Pianist," is set to play the main character in the reboot of the "Predator" film.
It is the 20th Century Fox reboot of the 1987 film which starred current California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger as a commander of a U.S. mercenary team on a mission in Central America. Brody will be cast as the role of Schwarzenegger character, quite a leap for Brody.
Though he is a good actor, it is hard to see him as an action hero. Rather a big box office draw, remember this is the same person who played the mentally challenged one in "The Village" and was a frail Jewish musician suffering to stay alive behind enemy lines in Nazi occupied Germany in "The Pianist."
The reboot will be directed by Robert Rodriguez, and as reported on Reuters.com, "shooting begins next month in Hawaii, then moves to moves to Rodriguez's Troublemaker Studios in Austin. The movie is slated for a July 9, 2010, release."
Though it is a reboot of the original, it will run on some type of new idea planted by Rodriguez. So who knows, the film may work out and people may forget that Brody is playing a role made famous by Schwarzenegger.
