Brooke Shields Comes to an Agreement with Tabloid

Brooke Shields settles with National Enquirer after they checked her mother out of her nursing home.

Actress Brooke Shields settled her lawsuit with the National Enquirer after a reporter and photographer allegedly checked her elderly mother out of a nursing home in New Jersey last month. According to New York Daily News, Shields' mother suffers from dementia.

National Enquirer has since apologized and has come to an agreement with Shields. In their agreement, the tabloid is to donate money to further research dementia.

TMZ has reported that the reporter that checked out her mother was not on duty at the time and has been a freelance reporter for the tabloid. They told the nursing home they were friends of Teri Shields and have known her for over ten years, said TMZ.

Police found the actress's mother unharmed and have since brought her back to the nursing facility.
