Brooke Shields vs. the National Enquirer
The National Enquirer and Brooke Shields have ended their battle involving Shields mother, Teri Shields, who suffers from dementia, reports TMZ. Shields claimed that a reporter from the Enquirer checked out her mother from a New Jersey nursing home and drove her around to find a story.
The freelance reporter claims that she has known Shields' mother for over 10 years. The magazine obviously knows the reporter is lying because they have agreed to apologize to Shields and make a donation to dementia research, according to People magazine.
Shields lawyer, Gerald B. Lefcourt told People magazine, "I am very pleased to report that the National Enquirer was prevailed upon not to publish a story," Lefcourt said. "Further, it has or will be apologizing publicly."
"The idea that the National Enquirer took advantage of her state is reprehensible and disgusting," Shields said.
