Bruce Springsteen to Perform During Halftime
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform in the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLIII Halftime Show on NBC at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay.
The announcement confirming the band's performance was officially made Sunday afternoon.
The Super Bowl can be seen on Sunday, February 1 on NBC.
This is a rather big deal for the band, who will benefit from the halftime of the Super Bowl annually being the most-watched musical performance of the year. Over 148 million people watched last year in the United States, and the Super Bowl typically reaches over 230 countries and territories.
And while one may argue that the choice of Springsteen and the E Street band is another musical group in the long line of acts targeted towards viewers in their 40s and above (not that there's anything wrong with that), those who did not grow up listening to Springsteen may recognize a few of his band members.
Specifically, Max Weinberg, who is the leader of the Max Weinberg 7 on Late Night With Conan O'Brien, and Steve Van Zant, who played Silvio Dante on The Sopranos.
