Buckeyes Ranked Number One

Ohio State University is number one in the college football season's Bowl Championship rankings.

On Saturday, the two teams ranked top in the Associated Press College Football Poll, Louisiana State University and the University of California, both lost for the first time this season. It was also the first time in the regular season since 1996 that the top two teams in the AP poll lost on the same day. Buckeye fans were excited to hear that because of this: Ohio State University, with its record of 7-0, is now number one in the college football season's Bowl Championship rankings that are used to determine the two teams that will play in the national championship game on January 7 in New Orleans. However, Coach Jim Tressel is by no means celebrating early. "We've improved each week but we understand that the only poll that counts is the last one (Dec. 3)," he stated. OSU, with its BCS grade of .942, became the third school this season to hold the Number 1 ranking. Their next game is against Michigan State on October 20.
