Budding Rapper, Roderick Burton, Shot at a Mall

Aubrey Berry, a 23-year-old man from Atlanta, was accused of murdering the budding rapper, Roderick Burton, 21, at a shopping mall in Los Angeles on Monday afternoon.

Berry reportedly shot Burton, who also goes by the name, "Dolla," in the head, in the parking garage at the Beverly Center near Beverly Hills, according to Reuters.

Berry was charged with the shooting, as well as assault with a firearm, reported MTV.com. According to Reuters, if the 23-year-old Berry is found guilty, he will face a maximum of life in prison with chance of parole.

Berry's fate will be decided at the first court hearing, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. Currently, he is being held in custody on a $1 billion bail.

Berry initially fled the scene of the crime and was only later arrested at Los Angeles International Airport, where he reportedly was found possessing a gun.

The promising rapper was signed to Akon's production company and was in Los Angeles working on his debut album, Dolla & a Dream, according to MTV.com.
