Buffy the Vampire Slayer Film Being Made Without Original Creator

Buffy creator not slated to work on film remake.

According to the Los Angeles Times, ideas are in the works for bringing Buffy the Vampire Slayer back to the big screen as it was debuted in 1992—the only problem amongst supporters is that the creator of Buffy, Joss Whedon, is reportedly uninvolved with the project.

The Times states that although Whedon's original film had been critically panned, the TV series of the same name that spawned from his first creation went on to be a seven season, Emmy winning hit. The reason for Whedon's disassociation from the film is that the directors of the first film, Rubel and Kaz Kuzui, have remained the primary owners of the film rights and consider the new Buffy a remake rather than a sequel or otherwise.

The New York Times states the Mrs. Kuzui intends for the new film to remain true to Buffy's ongoing fight against vampires and other evils for the sake of mankind, but lets us know that the characters that became familiar to the TV series will not be used.
