The Building of a New Distinction
Iran to increase uranium enrichment from 3.5 percent to 20 percent, Increasing problems between the U.S. and China, Sanctions against North Korea and a recent weapons mystery that violated those sanctions.
The question on my mind is how divisive this world is becoming again. The first half of last century saw two World Wars over divisive, untrustworthy politics and taking sides. The way I see it, if the divide is being pushed to the extreme again, if Iran, China, and North Korea are on the wrong side of the U.N., how far will they be pushed before they start their own union?
If the world should be split in half again, I wouldn’t be surprised if a new world war would be upon us. China is growing strength rapidly while here in the United States we’re only gaining weakness. It may only be a matter of time before tension builds to explosive levels.
Our hope lies in diplomacy over sanctions and limitations. As Iran's atomic energy chief has recently stated, “If [the Western governments] don’t like [a fuel exchange], we go our way.”
Iran and China have a will that says they don’t need us. According to LATimes.com, “Tehran accuses the West of refusing to negotiate in good faith or to address Iranian concerns about details of the deal,” regarding a proposal for Iran to “exchange the bulk of its enriched uranium supply for reactor fuel plates for the Tehran medical reactor.”
The U.N. is worried that Iran is not pulling its weight in the deal, and Washington and allies are open to new sanctions to place on Iran, in order to further control its nuclear program.
However, if Iran doesn’t comply, the divide will grow even wider, and what comes after that could prove to be hideous.
Both sides are ready to negotiate, but if neither wants to give much up, we may soon see a world split between China, Iran, North Korea, and Washington and its allies.
Maybe after that: World War III?
