Burt Reynolds Recovers from Heart Surgery
Burt Reynolds, 74, has returned home after a week of recovery. The actor underwent quintuple bypass surgery. The surgery had been planned for about a month.
The surgery was part of his month-long stint in rehab in order to overcome his addiction to prescription pain killers. He had originally taken the drugs due to back pain problems.
He told People: "I felt that in spite of the fact I am supposedly a big tough guy, I couldn't beat prescription drugs on my own.”
The doctors at the Florida hospital where the surgery took place expect him to make a quick recovery.
Reynolds’ manager said: “He wants to thank everyone for their good wishes and states that he has a great motor with brand new pipes and he is feeling great.”
The veteran actor is currently recovering at home while receiving 24-hour care.
