Busey Apologizes to Garner for Oscars Actions
Gary Busey has apologized to Jennifer Garner for their red carpet run-in at the Oscars in February, according to the Associated Press.
During the E! network's pre-show broadcast, Busey repeatedly interrupted interviewer Ryan Seacrest while he was interviewing Garner and Laura Linney.
"I meant no disrespect to Ms. Jennifer Garner when I met her at the Oscars and apologize if I made her uncomfortable," the 63-year-old actor said in a statement Monday, e-mailed by a publicist for his lawyer, Vicki Roberts.
Busey also said in the e-mail that he did not realize that Garner and Linney were being interviewed. By the time he did, he tried to step back but "suddenly Ryan introduced her (Garner) to me."
"I simply greeted both actresses with joy and open arms, which is the way I would greet anyone I'm happy to meet," Busey said. "Everyone has experienced a handshake or hug which has turned awkward, and this is no different."
Busey was nominated for an Oscar in 1978 for The Buddy Holly Story, and has parodied his reputation around Hollywood in HBO's Entourage.
