Busta Rhymes Gets Busted

Rapper is accused of assaulting man.

Rap Star, Busta Rhymes reportedly turned himself over to the NYPD, last night, after a man accused him of beating him. The man is currently unidentified, but claims that Busta was fighting with him over money issues, and then punched and kicked him several times outside a lower Manhattan building on December 26, 2006.

According to prosecutors, Busta, whose real name is Trevor Smith, is now charged with two counts of assault in the third degree, one count of attempted assault in the third degree, and harassment in the second degree. His bail has been set at $3,500. Busta has also been ordered to stay away from the victim and will be due in court on February 20th.

The court documents have Busta hitting the victim on the face and neck with a clenched fist and knocking him to the ground. While on the ground, Busta supposedly kicked him repeatedly in the ribs and torso, giving him "lacerations to face and neck, contusions and substantial pain."

Busta has not been a stranger to the law. He was charged with assault last August and in November, Manhattan cops gave him a ticket for driving while talking on a cell phone.
