American Idol contestant Scott Savol bid adieu to the talent competition Wednesday after weeks of hanging on by a thread. The Ohio native gave what judges described as one of his best performances yet with the classic "On Broadway," but it was no match for the vocal stylings of Anthony Federov, who shared the bottom two with Savol despite doing an uncanny rendition of the Backstreet Boys latest single "Incomplete."
Bo Bice stole the show once again, this time with a smokey performance of "Stand By Me." The show's three judges were more than pleased, with Randy Jackson declaring Bice the "captain of the dog pound."
Country girl Carrie Underwood showed a different side of herself with a rocked out version of Elvis' "Trouble." Vonzell Soloman looked stunning in a chocolate brown dress as she belted "When You Tell Me That You Love Me."
The best part of the night was when contestants showed their love for judge Paula Abdul by presenting her with two bouquets of flowers. Abdul was noticeably quite and withdrawn throughout the evening, likely due to the airing of the ABC news expose on Abdul's alleged affair with idol reject Corey Clark. Rumor had it Abdul would be announcing her resignation during the show, but (thankfully!), she did not.
Next week Vonzell, Bo, Carrie, and Anthony go head to head to see who can make the final three, and maybe we can finally get the spunky Paula Abdul talking again!
