Calm and Collected Wins the "Race"
The twelfth season of The Amazing Race concluded with TK Erwin and Rachel Rosales winning the $1 million prize, the Associated Press reported. The dating couple from Huntington Beach, Calif. often kept their cool during the legs of the race, rarely arguing with each other.
It was that calm-under-pressure approach that helped Rosales solve a complex puzzle and obtain the lead that got her and Erwin to the finish line first. "I knew it was going to be crucial to stay calm," she said of solving the puzzle using objects they had previously encountered on locations during the race.
The petite Rosales and the dreadlocked Erwin beat father-and-daughter team Ronald and Christina Hsu and grandfather-and-grandson team Donald Jerousek and Nicolas Fulks in the final leg, which took place in Anchorage, Alaska. Erwin said, after their win, that it showed, "Nice guys can definitely finish first."
Racers began in Los Angeles at the Playboy Mansion, then traveled to Ireland, the Netherlands, Burkina Faso, Lithuania, Croatia, Italy, India, Japan, and Taiwan, before ending in Alaska.
