Cameron Diaz Talks About Her Father's Recent Death

Cameron Diaz thanks fans for their support during this difficult time.

According to Access Hollywood, Cameron Diaz's father, Emilio, has died from pneumonia. He was 58.

The actress released a statement Wednesday addressing her father's death. She expressed her family's appreciation for the amount of support they have received thus far.

"My dad was loved by so many people and his humor and spirit will always live on in our hearts," Diaz said.

Emilio was a second generation Cuban American who worked for an oil company and mainly stayed away from his daughter's celebrity spotlight. He did, however, make a small cameo in Diaz's comedy classic, There's Something About Mary.

Emilio enjoyed his marriage to Diaz's mother, Billie, for 40 years. According to Diaz, her parents met in Big Bear and went out dancing at the Sugar Shack. They dated for nine months before they were married.

Diaz allegedly plans to continue production on her upcoming film, My Sister's Keeper.
