Cameron Douglas, son of actor Michael Douglas, faces drug trafficking charges.

Cameron Douglas, son of actor Michael Douglas, is now facing time in jail due to drug trafficking charges. Cameron's parents, Michael and his former wife, Diandra Douglas, have addressed this issue for the first time.

"We are devastated about the recent behavior of our son Cameron. Any family who has dealt with substance abuse knows how difficult it can be," said the statement released Wednesday by the actor's spokesperson.

According to People Magazine, Cameron is currently being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City after he disobeyed the terms of his home detention by supposedly asking his girlfriend to bring him an electric toothbrush stuffed with heroin.

The young Douglas had been released on bail and restricted to a Manhattan apartment after his arrest due to charges of distributing methamphetamine, also known as crystal meth.

Douglas faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison, and if he is convicted, could face life in prison.
