'Camp Rock' Pulls Record Ratings
Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas may have broken up, but they are still making sweet music together on TV. The two former lovebirds' recent Disney Channel original move, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, took in over eight million viewers.
The movie had the most viewers for a cable movie this year. The movie premiered Sept. 3 on the Disney Channel, but will air all weekend. After the premiere, Disney’s other princess and Lovato's frenemy, Selena Gomez, debuted her music video for “A Year Without Rain.”
The show was also the most watched Labor Day weekend program. If the movie was released in theaters, it would have made about $63 million from ticket sales. Not too shabby for a movie about a musical-singing camp, considering the other singing teenager programs out there (anyone heard of Glee?)
The DVD release is set for Tuesday. The soundtrack was released in August and debuted at number 3 on the Billboard charts. The original Camp Rock debuted in 2008.
Did you catch Camp Rock 2? Or were you too broken up by the breakup of Jonas and Lovato to turn the TV on?
