Camp Rock Takes on HSM
Disney Channel's newest original movie, Camp Rock, beats High School Musical in debut.
The star power of the Jonas Brothers helped rocket the newest Disney Channel original movie to the top.
Friday night's premiere of Camp Rock, starring the Jonas trio, debuted before 7.8 million viewers.
Camp Rock was a more successful preimere than High School Musical in 2006, but not nearly as successful as High School Musical 2, which premiered to a record breaking 17.2 million.
Still, the true test for a movie of this type is its ability, or not, to play over and over again, according to E! But, seeing as the Jonas Brothers are much bigger now than any of the HSM stars were at the beginning of their film career, it shouldn't be a problem.
