Heath Ledger's last film will feature at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, a Terry Gilliam production, was announced as part of the official selection for the competition on Thursday.

This was the last film Ledger was making when he died. It was delayed several months when the actor accidentally overdosed, but Ledger's part was taken over by Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law, according to Jude Law.

Previous winners in the competition, like Quentin Tarantino, Ken Loach, Lars von Trier and Jane Campion, will battle with others like Pedro Almodovar, Ang Lee, Michael Haneke and Park Chan-wook for the Palme d'Or. The festival will open on May 13 with Up, the first 3-D animated film to ever premiere at the Cannes festival.

The competition is stiff this year. Between Tarantino's World War II film, Inglorious Basterds, Lee's Talking Woodstock, Campion's Bright Star and Almodovar's Broken Embraces, the jury, led by French actress Isabelle Huppert, will have their work cut out for them.
