Carrie Underwood Will Host A Variety Special for Fox Network

Carrie Underwood will host a two-hour holiday variety special on the Fox Network Dec.7. The special will air at 8:00 PM EDT.

The two-hour show is titled "Carrie Underwood: All-Star Holiday Special".

Underwood won the fourth season of "American Idol". The 26 year old singer is a four-time Grammy winner.

During the show the country star will perform songs from her upcoming album "Play On", old hits and holiday classics. Dolly Parton, Brad Paisley and fellow "American Idol" winner David Cook are some of the confirmed guests with additional guests to be announced.

The production will be done by Big Red 2 Entertainment and executive produced by Nigel Lythgoe, Adam Shankman and Simon Fuller. Also taking on the role as director will be Shankman and Lythgoe.

This announcement comes less than a week after ABC revealed that a hour-long primetime holiday special starring Jennifer Hudson will air. The date for Hudson's special has yet to be scheduled.

Underwood's new album "Play On" will be released Nov.3.
