CBGB Stays Open for Another Year
CBGB, New York's legendary punk rock club, will be able to keep its doors open for one more year. The club, known for introducing such punk rock icons as Blondie and The Talking Heads, has been fighting against being evicted by the Bowery Resident's Committee, the club's landlord. The committee refused to renew the club's lease after much argument over back rent. This extra time gives Hilly Kristal, the owner, the ability to find a new location. Kristal, however, is unwavering about keeping the 32 year-old club at its familiar venue. New possible sites include downtown New York, Times Square, and even Las Vegas.
