CBS continues to rule rerun-filled holiday week with Wednesday triumph
CBS maintained its control of the repeat-filled week between Christmas and New Year’s as reruns of its crime dramas “Criminal Minds” and “CSI: Miami” both scored high ratings on Wednesday.
According to an article on HollywoodReporter.com, “Reruns of the network's procedurals ‘Criminal Minds’ (11 million viewers, 2.4 rating/7 share) and ‘CSI: NY’ (10.9 million, 2.3/7) were the highest rated programs for the night by a mile, with no other broadcast pulling in more than a 1.6 rating in the demo.’”
In other network news, an episode of ABC’s cancelled drama “Eastwick,” accumulated its lowest original ratings and got beaten by a rerun of NBC’s “The Jay Leno Show.”
“Criminal Minds” premiered on CBS on Sept 22, 2005. It follows a team of profilers from the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit at Quantico, Virginia. It is a unique police procedural drama in that it shines the spotlight on the criminal rather than the crime itself. It stars film/television/stage actor Mandy Patinkin, ex-“Dharma & Greg” star Thomas Gibson and ex-“The Young & the Restless” star Shemar Moore.
“CSI: Miami” premiered on CBS on Sept. 23, 2002 and is a spin-off of “CSI.” The series follows a forensics team in South Florida. Its cast includes ex-“NYPD Blue” star David Caruso, Emily Proctor, who had a recurring role on NBC’s “The West Wing,” ex-“All My Children” cast member Eva LaRue and ex-“NewsRadio” cast member Khandi Alexander.
