ABC’s popular talk show, The View, has remained on the air for the past 13 years due to its ability to attract female viewers. In an attempt to replicate ABC’s success, CBS plans to introduce a similar talk show with six female co-hosts. The show remains unnamed at the moment, but it has been confirmed that it will air during the time slot that will be vacated by As the World Turns in mid-September.
CBS News is reporting that it will attempt to appeal primarily to mothers, as you would expect for a daytime talk show featuring six middle-aged women discussing their perspectives of various topics. The Early Show co-anchor and Big Brother host, Julie Chen, will be joined by British television personality and judge on America’s Got Talent, Sharon Osbourne.
Actress Leah Remini, who played Carrie Heffernan in CBS’ King of Queens from 1998-2007, will be a member of the panel as will Celebrity Apprentice finalist Holly Robinson Peete. Former Dancing With the Stars contestant Marissa Jaret Winokur and actress Darlene Conner-Healy of Roseanne fame round out the co-hosts for the unnamed show.
According to MTV, the network unveiled a press release to announce that the six female co-hosts “will swap stories, challenge each other on issues, and engage the studio audience and viewers at home about events in the headlines and their own homes through the lens of motherhood.”
