Celebrity Birthdays, December 13

Deborah Kim

Happy birthday Taylor Swift, Jamie Foxx and Steve Buscemi!

Taylor Swift, 22
It seems nothing can stop Taylor Swift. This year alone she’s been nominated for three American Country Awards, including Female Artist of the Year, CMT Music Awards Female Video of the Year for “Mine,” five Country Music Association Awards, three 2012 Grammys, and more. But all those nominations are nothing compared to her American Country Awards Entertainer of the Year win, American Music Awards Artist of the Year, Favorite Country Female Artist, and Favorite Country Album wins (she won everything she was nominated for), and Billboard Music Award Top Artist, Top Country Album, Top Billboard 200 Artist, and Top Country Artist wins. She was also most recently honored as Billboard’s Woman of the Year. But if you’re getting a little tired of all her soapy love song hits, the country cutie promises she’s switching things up for her next album.

Jamie Foxx, 44
Jamie Foxx is like a modern Leonardo DaVinci. He can play the piano, sing, act (all of which he did while wearing prosthetic eyelids that made him virtually blind in 2004’s Ray), plus he’s easy on the eyes. But not all things were starry for the multi-talented star. When he was younger, his parents divorced when he was still a baby and he was raised by his grandparents, who raised him in a very rigid upbringing that involved church and Boy Scouts. In high school he was also a star football player then moved on to study music in college. However, it wasn’t until a former girlfriend urged him to take the stage at the Comedy Club. And the rest is history. Not only is he the first person ever to be nominated for three Golden Globe acting awards in the same year, he’s also the first African-American who was nominated for two Oscars in the same awards ceremony.

Steve Buscemi, 54
The actor has had several roles, most of which portrayed him as a criminal or fast talker, in films like Fargo, The Big Lebowski, and Monsters, Inc. He also starred as Tony Blundetto on HBO’s The Sopranos. However, he shot back into fame with another HBO hit, Mark Wahlberg’s Boardwalk Empire. His portrayal of Enoch “Nucky” Thompson even earned him a Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series-Drama Golden Globe this year. But before he became a successful actor, he worked as a bartender, drove an ice-cream truck, attempted stand-up comedy, and served as a fireman in New York City from 1980 to 1984. He also had a modeling gig with clothing giant H&M in 2000. Buscemi is also in a successful Hollywood marriage. He’s been with wife Jo Andres since 1987 and has one son with her, Lucian Buscemi. Buscemi can next be seen on the big screen in On the Road with Kristen Stewart, animated flick Hotel Transylvania with Adam Sandler and Kevin James, Burt Wonderstone with Jim Carrey and Olivia Wilde, and Monsters University with John Goodman.
