Celebs and Politician Pour Out Support for Hudson
After singer and actress Jennifer Hudson's mother and brother were found shot to death in their Chicago area home, celebrity condolences from her former American Idol colleagues, as well as Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama, have poured in, according to PerezHilton.com.Former American Idol contestant Diana DeGarmo said she witnessed firsthand the close bond Hudson shared with her mother during their time on the competition.
"I know how important Jennifer's mother and brother were to her, especially because her father was never in the picture. They were so nice and so pleasant. Jennifer always spoke about her mom, how close they were and how much of a 'big sister' role her mom played in her life," DeGarmo said.
Obama issued a statement Sunday expressing his sorrow for Hudson and his hope that Hudson's seven-year-old nephew, Julian, would be returned home safely.
"Michelle and I were absolutely heartbroken to learn about this unimaginable tragedy and we want Jennifer to know that she is in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. We also pray for the swift and safe return of her young nephew," Obama said through a statement.
Julian was reported missing after the fatal shootings and the FBI is continuing a search for the young boy.
