Celebs weigh in on Obama's First Year As President
Celebrities were in big support of Barack Obama winning the presidency- no doubt Obama has a bit more of a celebrity personality than a political one when it comes to charm and individuality. Just look at what we've had to deal with in the last few decades in terms of squares! Ross Perot, Bob Dole, the Bush family, Dick Cheney...they all seem to have gotten worse in the last 20 years, whereas before we at least had individuals, whether politically good or bad influences, like Richard "slick dick" Nixon, JFK, and Ronald Reagan who first came into the spotlight as a celebrity starting in the 1930's.
A year after he took office celebrities weighed in on Obama's efforts so far. The majority of those interviewed and featured on MTV News were of the opinion that things are moving slow, but that this is the natural and necessary form of good progress.
Says funny woman Sarah Silverman, "We knew he was inheriting a $#!^-storm all of a sudden it's so shocking that things still suck? Takes a second!"
This mentality echoed through the piece by other celebrities, like John Krasinki of The Office, "He's doing fine. You know, there's four years. It's a miracle not a sprint."
On the other hand we have Eli Roth, the only celebrity featured in the piece who dared dissent in these times of the Patriot Act and what not.
"I feel like he comes up with these ideas to try and please everybody and I sort of look back and I'm like, you know, I really hated George Bush but at least that guy took a position on things. I feel like Obama should get an opinion, grow a spine, if you want my honest opinion. I'm really disappointed."
I wonder how many people are of the mindset of Eli Roth, celebrity or normie. Tell us what you think of the Obama's first year as president of the United States by commenting on this piece.
