Charlie Sheen, Wife to Seek Counseling
Actor and star of the CBS comedy “Two and a Half Men,” Charlie Sheen and his wife Brooke Mueller have decided to undertake counseling following a domestic dispute between the couple at a dinner party in Aspen, Colo., that resulted in Sheen being arrested and having to spend Christmas 2009 in jail. "They were fighting at a dinner in a friend’s house and it continued until the next morning," a source close to Mueller tells PEOPLE. "Both of them were drinking and neither was supposed to be. They both have histories of alcohol abuse and have made every effort to stop. But things got out of hand." The 44-year-old actor was charged with second-degree assault, menacing and criminal mischief and was booked a little after 11:00 a.m., according to a spokesperson for the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Department in Aspen, Colo. According to an article on People.com, “The actor posted an $8,500 bond Friday night and was released from jail at 7 p.m. He is due in court on Feb. 8, 2010 at 10:30 a.m.” Upon his release from jail, Sheen went straight back to Los Angeles. Both Sheen and his wife will be undergoing counseling while Sheen himself will be participating in anger management counseling. The People.com goes on to say that, “Despite reports, the couple had not been separated in the weeks leading up to the Christmas morning 911 call at the house they were renting with their twin boys, Bob and Max, 9 months.” The source close to Mueller refutes reports that the two have ever been separated and states that their twin boys have no knowledge of their parents fight. "They have two children together and they love one another and they’re going to work through what is a difficult time and they’re going to do that together and as privately as possible," said Sheen’s attorney Richard Cummins, who is based in Colorado. At the present time, Mueller, who is a 32-year-old real estate investor, is staying at a rented residence in Aspen and so far there has been no talk of divorce.
