Former Dancing with the Stars contestant Chaz Bono, 42, will be shown proposing to his girlfriend, Jennifer Elia, in a new special called Being Chaz that will air on the Oprah Winfrey Network.
According to People, Elia was wowed by the ring, saying, "It's gorgeous. Thank you so much. It's stunning. It's huge."
Bono started his proposal by calling it Elia’s “birthday present...and I hope you like this.”
TMZ reports that Bono made the proposal at the Space Needle in Seattle.
Being Chaz acts as the sequel to Becoming Chaz, the Emmy-nominated documentary that covered Bono’s transition from female to male. The new special covers Bono’s experience as the first transgender contestant on Dancing with the Stars and his relationship with Elia as they overcome the problems in their lives. "I don't want him to die for a cause," Elia says in the special, according to People.
E! News reports that OWN will use the show as a launching point for a full reality series. Being Chaz airs Sunday, Nov. 27 at 8 p.m.
Following Being Chaz, OWN will also air I Am Jazz: A Family In Transition, which covers the life of Jazz, an 11-year-old transgendered girl.
