Chelsea Handler to Host 2010 MTV VMAs

Late-night comedian Chelsea Handler has been selected to host the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. She announced her gig during her show, Chelsea Lately, Wednesday night.

The award show will be held on September 12 at 9 p.m. and will feature celebrities such as Usher, Drake, and Kanye West.

Chelsea seemed to be very excited about her upcoming hosting gig, telling her audience, “Everyone knows that when you think of rap music and hip-hop you think of Chelsea Lately. And that’s why I will be hosting.” She even made jokes about how her staff should go above and beyond to try to snag one of the extra tickets the network gave her.

MTV strives to have charismatic, comical, and cutting-edge hosts at their very popular award show, and Chelsea seems to fit the bill. Perhaps she can provide long-lasting buzz that will replace the still-talked-about Kanye West and Taylor Swift incident.

The 2010 MTV VMAs plan to excite, and with the line-up of celebrities in combination with Chelsea as the host, this award show has the potential to be the best ever.
