Chevy Chase Wants Palin "Decimated"

Chevy Chase said he wants comedian Tina Fey to "go even harder" on Palin after her portrayal of her on Saturday Night Live.

Saturday Night Live alum Chevy Chase has some advice for former SNL funny-woman Tina Fey, who returned for the season premiere on Saturday to portray Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin: Decimate her.

"I thought it was extraordinary how well she played her and much she looked like her. I'd just like her - personally I felt we didn't need the Hillary stuff - I'd like her to go even harder," Chase told MSNBC.

"I want her to decimate this woman. This woman is, I can't believe there hasn't been more about it. . . . It's just unbelievable to me this woman is actually running for vice president," he said.

John McCain's camp was not as pleased with Fey's performance. McCain adviser Carly Fiorina called the portrayal "very dismissive" of Palin.

"The portrait was very dismissive of the substance of Sarah Palin, and so in that sense, they were defining Hillary Clinton as very substantive, and Sarah Palin as totally superficial," Fiorina said.

"Just because Sarah Palin has different views than Hillary Clinton does not mean that she lacks substance," Fiorina said. "She has a lot of substance."

The skit, which has become an Internet sensation, includes Fey as Palin and former Weekend Update costar Amy Poehler as Hillary Clinton. The skit focused on a somewhat embittered Clinton comparing her campaign to Palin's, accusing her to have "just glided in on a dog sled wearing your pageant sash and your Tina Fey glasses."

Palin has not personally addressed the SNL skit but, according to her spokeswoman, was amused by it.

"She thought it was quite funny, particularly because she once dressed up as Tina Fey for Halloween," her spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt said.
