Chilean Official Considers Madonna "Impure"
Madonna has certainly been called a lot of things throughout her long career. This time is no different.
The Associated Press reports that retired Roman Catholic Cardinal Jorge Medina of Chile has been vocally criticizing Madonna, 50, as she performs her first concert in the country on Wednesday.
"This woman comes here and in an incredibly shameless manner, she provokes a crazy enthusiasm, an enthusiasm of lust, lustful thoughts, impure thoughts," he said at a Mass honoring late Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet.
Medina was also the religious official who announced the election of Pope Benedict XV.
National Stadium in Santiago, where the concert is being held, already had hundreds of fans line up in order to get good seats for Wednesday's show.
Roberto Lopez, one of the fans waiting, told local media that he quit his job because his boss didn't give him time off to attend the show.
Madonna will be performing two concerts in Chile.
