China tells "The Simpsons:" 'Eat My Shorts'
Foreign cartoon scaled back in Communist country
The Simpsons may have vacationed to China, but it is going to be even harder to find them on Chinese television because of a recent ruling by the country's Communist Government.
The government said they will eliminate foreign cartoons from prime viewing hours to protect their own animators as well as fear over the growing foreign influence, the state media said and reported by the BBC.
Beginning Sept. 1 foreign cartoons will not be shown between 5 to 8 p.m. Chinese time, also they will not air shows that mix live and animated characters, according to the BBC.
The move comes as the Chinese government said two years ago, Chinese cartoons must account for 60 percent of cartoons shown in the country.
