Choreographer for "So You Think You Can Dance" accused of rape

Popular salsa choreographer, Alex Da Silva, is accused of raping four former students

Brazillian-born Alex Da Silva, a dancer and choreographer for the popular FOX reality series, "So You Think You Can Dance," has been arrested for sexually assaulting at least four women, according to the Associated Press.

Da Silva, 41, teaches salsa at several Los Angeles dance studios in addition to his mentoring duties on "SYTYCD," and has been accused of raping four of his dance students between 2003 and 2009.

Previous charges against Da Silva in 2003 to 2005 were never fully investigated, but after a fourth victim recently came forward, police re-examined the other allegations.

"These four women don't know each other at all, yet their reports read basically the same," Detective John Eum said of the victims' statements. He also noted that one of the accusers was a minor at the time of Da Silva's alleged assault. It is unknown how many women the dancer has sexually assaulted, but police are "almost sure there are other victims out there," according to Eum. "We hope they'll come forward."

Da Silva is currently being held on $3.8 million bail, and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday to answer to the charges.
