Chris Brown May Have Wanted to Plead Guilty Earlier
Chris Brown was sentenced on Tuesday for his assault on his ex-girlfriend, Rihanna, during an early-morning fight on Feb. 8.
He will serve five years of probation, perform a 180 days of community labor and go through a 52-week domestic violence program sponsored by Commonwealth Catholic Charities in Virginia, his home state.
Brown met with his mother, attorney Mark Geragos and probation officers at the attorney's office on June 26 and told them he was eager to enter a guilty plea. Brown had reportedly told the probation officials he wanted to take responsibility for his mistakes and attend domestic violence counseling and "do it right." The singer had grown up watching domestic violence in his own home and didn't want to "carry on the cycle," reported MTV.
Brown was also ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from Rihanna. If attending an "entertainment industry event," the restriction is 10 yards away. The judge severely advised Brown that violation of any of the probation terms will put him in prison.
