Chris Brown Responds to Oprah's Remarks; Fumbles in Larry King Interview
Chris Brown may have done it this time.
According to San Jose Mercury News, Brown, the 20-year-old ex-boyfriend of Rihanna who reportedly attacked her during an altercation over another female, has recently turned his attention to Oprah.
In an interview with People, he said he "commended" Oprah on her statement, "This is a problem." But he felt that the prominent talk show host wasn't being "helpful" enough; at least toward both him and Rihanna. Brown said he did a lot of things for Oprah in the past, including performing for her school in Africa.
A representative for Oprah responded that O has not forgotten what Brown has done for her institution in Africa, but said that she "takes domestic abuse very seriously."
Brown hasn't really opened up about what transpired during his abusive behavior, since the February incident, but came pretty close to it while conversing with Larry King this week.
King attempted to get to the meat of the matter by giving an ironically mocking example, according to Reuters.
"What lollipop are we going to get tomorrow?" King said to Brown.
King's questions seemed to bring about an inarticulate response from Brown, who carefully told the 75-year-old television broadcaster without telling him too much, that his relationship with Rihanna was "pretty good."
Like Oprah, Sheryl Cates, CEO of the National Domestic Violence Hotline, and Terry O'Neill, president of the National Organization for Women, said that counseling will not change Brown overnight, but it is a step in the right direction.
