Chris Brown's Apology to Rihanna: Is It Enough?
According to MTV News, Chris Brown released a video apologizing publicly for abusing his ex-girlfriend, Rihanna. "I'm truly, truly sorry that I wasn't able to handle the situation both differently and better," Chris Brown said in the video released on July 20. Now maybe it's just me, but don't you think it's a little too late to be apologizing for what happened? I understand that his attorney's did not want him to talk about it until the legal matters were settled but he should have apologized as soon as it happened. In the video, Chris Brown said that he accepts full responsibility for what happened but I feel that by not immediately speaking out about it was not taking full responsibility.
While watching this video, I felt that Chris Brown seemed a tad unbelievable. I have always been a Chris Brown fan but after hitting Rihanna, I know that I cannot look at him the same way. There is no excuse for hitting a woman and wishing you handled the situation better does not heal the scars. I appreciate that you are trying to work on yourself as a person (and attempted to talk it out with your mother and minister), but somehow I cannot forgive you for hitting her. I understand that we are human and that we make mistakes, but somehow this mistake is irrevocable.
Final Thought: Chris Brown apologized to the public for his disgraceful behavior. I am still wondering, was his apology enough? And if it is not enough, then what could Chris Brown do to finally make up for what he did?
