Chris Hemsworth to Play Thor
While rumors have been going back and forth as to who will play the lead in Marvel Studios' action film, Thor, sources say the search is finally over. According to the Cinema Post, Chris Hemsworth, 25, will play comic book hero Thor.
Director Kenneth Branagh and Marvel Studio's Kevin Feige settled on Hemsworth after some deliberation. According to the Cinema Post, the two initially looked past Hemsworth. It was only after a second read that Branagh and Feige were impressed and made their final decision to cast him.
Part of Marvel's team, Thor, the god of thunder, is also expected to appear in future movies including Iron Man, Hulk, and the impending Captain America film.
Hemsworth recently played the small role of James T. Kirk's father, George, in Star Trek. The 25-year-old actor was also cast in the film, Red Dawn, last week, and will appear in Joss Whedon's thriller, Cabin in the Woods, reported the Cinema Post.
