Chris Rock Breaks Overseas Record

Rock wows the U.K. public.

We love him in America . . . they love him across the pond. Crazy comedian Chris Rock has gone into the record books for having the largest audience in the U.K., BBC News reports.

The comedian performed at London's O2 arena to an audience of 15,900 people, in the first of two shows. This put him ahead of British comedian Lee Evans, who set the record in 2005, performing to a crowd of 10,108 at Manchester's MEN Arena.

Guinness World Records officials were on hand for Rock's performance to ensure their rules were followed. The amount of people in attendance was counted using the number of ticket stubs taken at the venue's box office, so latecomers and those who left early were not taken into consideration. After the show, it was announced that Rock's attempt to break the record had been successful.

Rock - who hosted the Oscars in 2005 - performed outside of the United States for the first time in January of 2008, with a U.K. tour.

Evans will have a chance to take back the title in October, when he performs at the O2.
