Christian Bale Had a Hard Time in School

Due to his Hollywood success at a young age, actor Christian Bale reveals he was bullied throughout his school days, WENN reports.

The Dark Knight star found work in commercials as a child, but with the success of Empire of the Sun in 1987, Bale was thrust into overnight fame . . . at the age of 13. His classmates were less than thrilled about his success, and they let him know.

"It was not a great time. I was a victim of bullying and had other kids kicking and punching me every day," recalls Bale. "I was confused about other people's reactions to me, both good and bad. It can mess anyone up."

While it may have been a rough time, Bale admits that since he can now look back at it from a safer position, it did teach him some valuable lessons. "It was an early lesson in how making a film can set you apart. If you don't want to live with the consequences then don't make the film," he theorizes.
