Christian Version of "Guitar Hero" Selling Well

Video game "Guitar Praise: Solid Rock" has exceeded expectations and pleased many Christian fans.

The Guitar Hero spin-off video game, Guitar Praise: Solid Rock, has far exceeded selling expectations, but according to MTV.com, the game is selling faster than inventory is available. The game is a Christian version of Guitar Hero and developers at Digital Praise are hoping to provide Christian retailers with a stock of the game in time for Christmas.

CEO of Digital Praise Tom Bean said the company received lots of emails and letters from fans asking for a version of Guitar Hero that included Christian music rather than rock music. Many fans claimed to have contacted other video game distributors but the idea never seemed to be taken by interest. Bean believed there was a good opportunity to develop the Christian game and took a chance on it, despite many skeptics believing it wouldn't sell well.

Many customers believed the music and avatars in the regular Guitar Hero were offensive and did not want their children exposed to it. Therefore, Guitar Praise includes only clean music and no avatars. But the company claims the purpose of the game is not to promote religious views but to allow families of different faiths the opportunity to enjoy the game and have fun.

The game has sold so well that the company is even considering expanding it with things such as a full Rock Band set or even Guitar Hero: World Tour. Digital Praise is even considering expanding from PC/Mac games to console games due to high requests from fans.

As for critics, Bean suggests video-gamers try the game out before criticizing it, stating, "I would ask anybody to try the game and see what they think. I think people would be impressed with the gameplay and some of the unique features about it."
