Christie Hefner Steps Down
Christie Hefner, chairman and CEO of Playboy Enterprises, is leaving her position after more than two decades of work, the Hollywood Reporter says. Jerome Kern, a Playboy board member since 2002, will serve as interim chairman.
"Playboy Enterprises has literally and figuratively been my life and career for more than 30 years," Hefner said. "Just as this country is embracing change in the form of new leadership, I have decided that now is the time to make changes in my own life as well."
Hefner, the 56-year-old daughter of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, will officially leave her position on January 31. She will remain a board member until a new CEO is selected.
Playboy's stock has been suffering in recent months, but the news of Hefner's resignation was well-received on Wall Street. Stock has been up around 17 percent in mid-day trading, the Washington Post reports.
